Frequently asked questions

What is the break-even point?
The point where you stop losing money: the number of orders per month from which your revenue covers all costs. Below it you pay out of pocket, above it you keep the profit. It is calculated as fixed costs divided by the contribution margin per order — that is, what is left of the price after the costs per order.
What counts as fixed costs, and what as costs per order?
Fixed costs arise even without a single order: rent, Shopify subscription, app subscriptions, software, salaries, insurance — and your own wage. Costs per order arise anew with every order: purchasing the goods, shipping, packaging, payment fees, advertising per order.
Which costs do shops forget most often?
Payment fees (usually around 2 % plus €0.30 per payment), packaging, returns and the advertising cost per order. If you need €10 of advertising to get one order, you often need twice as many orders to break even. Under "Settings" you can enter the costs per order one by one.
How do I lower my break-even point?
Three levers: raise the price, lower the costs per order, lower the fixed costs. The price has the strongest effect — in the example with €75 and €36.50 costs per order, €5 more on the price lowers the required quantity from 78 to 69 orders. Try it above: the chart recalculates instantly.
What happens to my data?
Nothing. The calculation happens entirely in your browser; your figures are never sent to a server or stored anywhere.
