Frequently asked questions

What does the SEO check look at?
Reachability, https, “noindex”, title and description, headings, canonical, language attribute, phone setup (viewport), image alt text, names of links, buttons and form fields, structured data (JSON-LD) and the preview for social networks. It reads the page source as a search engine crawler first gets it — anything JavaScript loads later is not seen.
Why do title characters count?
Google cuts titles and descriptions by their width in the results, not by a fixed number of characters. Around 60 characters for the title and 160 for the description usually fit entirely — so these are only warnings and hints, never errors.
Is this a complete SEO audit?
No. The check covers the technical basics of one page. Content, links from other sites and loading speed matter too: Google’s PageSpeed Insights shows the speed, and Google Search Console shows what Google knows about your pages.
Why does fetching sometimes fail?
Some shops block automated requests (bot protection), others require a login. So that nobody queries other people’s websites through us, there is also a limit per visitor and per website — then try again in a few minutes.
What happens to my data?
Our server (a function at Supabase in Frankfurt) fetches the page whose address you enter and returns only its source to your browser; nothing is stored. The checking happens in your browser.
