Frequently asked questions
- Which paper and holders fit?
- Three formats are preset. "Labels": Avery Zweckform L4785 sheets with 10 removable name labels of 80 × 50 mm per A4 sheet — the die-cut measurements come from the gLabels template database, and sheets of the same size from other brands fit too. "Holders": 85 × 55 mm inserts for badge holders with clip or pin, 10 per A4 sheet. "A6": 105 × 148 mm cards for lanyard holders, 4 per A4 sheet. For holders and A6, use plain paper or thin card, as long as your printer takes it.
- How do I print so everything lines up?
- Open the PDF and print it at its original size: in the print dialog choose "Actual size" or "Scale 100 %", never "Fit to page". Paper size A4, portrait. For labels, print one page on plain paper first and hold it against the light together with the label sheet. Holder inserts and A6 cards sit edge to edge: one cut separates two badges. The short marks at the edge of the sheet show where — cut from mark to mark with a ruler and craft knife or a paper trimmer.
- How do I prepare the Excel list?
- One row per person with a header row above, for example First name | Last name | Company | Role — or a single "Name" column instead of first and last name. German headers such as Vorname, Nachname, Firma and Funktion are recognised too. A title or date above the header row is skipped, and empty rows are left out. Anything that is not recognised can be assigned under "Map columns". The first worksheet is read; save an old .xls file in Excel as .xlsx or CSV.
- What happens to long names?
- No name is ever cut off. If it does not fit on one line, it wraps at a space or after the hyphen of a double-barrelled name — onto two lines, on A6 cards up to three — and the font gets as small as it has to. If a name ends up much smaller than the others, the tool says so under "Notes"; you can then shorten it in the list, for example a middle name. The print font knows every letter of Western European languages, including ä, ö, ü, ß, é, ñ and ø. Letters from, for example, Polish, Czech or Hungarian (ł, č, ő) are printed as their base letter (l, c, o) — every affected row is listed under "Notes".
- What happens to the attendee list?
- It never leaves your browser. The list is read in this tab and turned into the PDF there; it is not sent to any server and not stored anywhere — not in the browser and not in your account. Close or reload the tab and it is gone; next time, upload it again. With a free account, only the design is saved: design, format, colour, logo and the column mapping.
