Frequently asked questions

What happens to my data?
Nothing leaves your browser. Images and PDFs are converted on your device — no file is uploaded, nothing is stored. Invoices, contracts and ID photos stay with you.
Which image formats can I turn into a PDF?
JPG, PNG and WebP. Please save iPhone photos in HEIC format as JPG first — or choose Settings → Camera → Formats → "Most Compatible" on the iPhone, and the camera saves JPG right away.
Do my photos lose quality?
No. JPG and PNG images go into the PDF unchanged, without new compression; a phone photo taken upright is rotated in the PDF, not recalculated. Only WebP images are converted to JPG once, because PDF does not know the format.
JPG or PNG, 150 or 300 dpi?
For screen, e-mail and websites, JPG and 150 dpi are enough — the files stay small. For printing, choose 300 dpi. PNG pays off for pages with lots of text and fine lines because it saves without loss; the files get larger in return.
Why does "PDF → text" find no text?
Then the PDF is probably a scan: every page is a photo, not text. Text recognition (OCR) is not offered here. PDFs from Word, a shop or accounting software, on the other hand, carry their text in the file, and it can be taken over.
